PEABODY — Four people, including a Lynn man, face illegal gun possession charges following a two-day investigation by the Peabody Police Department.
Police responded to a call Monday from the Newbury Street Inn on Route 1. They were directed to a hotel room where they found a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
Investigators identified the person who rented the room as Erick Alberto Lopez, 29, from Lynn. On Wednesday, detectives lured him back to the hotel and he arrived with three passengers. A search of his motor vehicle uncovered a loaded 9mm Luger handgun.
Lopez was arrested along with Salvador Gutierrez, 19, of Somerville, Eliseo Vaquerano, 18, of Chelsea, and a 17-year-old unnamed juvenile.
They are charged with carrying a firearm without a license,
possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number, and illegal possession of ammunition.
The three adult suspects were arraigned in Peabody District Court on Thursday and the juvenile suspect was arraigned in Salem Juvenile Court.
