SALEM — The Essex County District Attorney’s Office is releasing few details about the death of a man found in Lynn last week.
A spokeswoman for the DA’s Office said they are conducting an investigation, but declined to reveal the victim’s name or age. Carrie Kimball Monahan said an autopsy has been completed, but authorities are awaiting the results on the cause of death.
She said the victim was discovered Thursday afternoon, but declined to say where.
It’s unclear whether the suspected homicide happened in Lynn or the body was dumped in the city.
“Unfortunately, there’s not much else I can say at this point,” Monahan said. “It’s not necessarily veiled in secrecy, it’s just that the death is under investigation and there’s not much information known at this time. In the course of doing an investigation, we are careful about what we share publicly so as to preserve the integrity of the investigation and allow investigators to question people and know that the info they receive is because they know it and not because they read it in a newspaper.”
Two people have been killed in Lynn this year.
In March, 55-year-old Miguel A. Castillo was arraigned in Lynn District Court and charged with beating to death with a baseball bat his 47-year-old wife, Luz Yanina Acevado, inside their apartment. In June, Victor Figueroa, of Lynn, was arrested and charged in the homicide of 25-year-old Romel Danis.
