August 15, 2018 by daily_staff

Amanda Mena, the teenage singer with the booming voice, is one of seven semifinalists on  NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

The 15-year-old sensation from St. Mary’s Lynn’s had the judges standing in their seats after her bilingual rendition of “What About Us” by pop-singer P!NK on Tuesday night’s live show.

The judges were effusive in their praise, including former Spice Girl Melanie “Mel B” Brown, who told Mena they shared a similar backstory.

“You didn’t fit in. Everyone told you to go back to your country. You look different. You didn’t speak the same language. But you know what? You overcame all those odds and you here on this stage, and I am so proud of you,” she said.

Mena will perform again in September.
