SWAMPSCOTT — Dick Buckley, an artist from Swampscott, has one of his paintings featured in “Wicked Strange: Art Oddities from the New England Imagination” at the Brookline Arts Center through Oct. 27.
“I loved the name of the exhibit, and was delighted when Brian Goslow, the managing editor of Artscope, juried my painting into it,” said Buckley. Buckley said the first reaction of those who view the painting is to smile. Hence, he titled the work “I Love Your Smile.” The painting is a 24-inch-by-30-inch acrylic on canvas, “and, yes, those are actual doll eyes affixed to it,” he said.
The Brookline Arts Center is presenting this exhibit through Oct. 27, with a reception scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 4, 5:30-9:30 p.m. The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth St., Brookline. Weekday gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
