LYNN — Two people were taken into custody after a report of breaking and entering at 38 Exchange St. on Tuesday.

Just before 3:30 p.m., Lynn Police received an anonymous call that a male and a female were breaking into the former Daily Item building, according to Sergeant Dave McEnaney. The caller said they had gotten into the building by using the back door by the loading dock.

Five cruisers arrived on scene almost 20 minutes after the call was made. Officers found the male suspect downstairs in the basement who told them he was “just trying to take a bath.” The female suspect was upstairs rummaging around through the building.

McEnaney said neither person had weapons or stolen possession on them upon police arrival. They were taken into custody and brought to the police station in separate cruisers.
