Lynn, Saugus, and State Police searched for a 10-year-old Lynn boy who briefly went missing Friday night. A helicopter and drones equipped with infrared devices were brought to the area as first responders searched for the little boy.
Lynn officers scrambled to the scene near Menlo Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. after the boy’s mother reported him missing, according to Lynn Police Lt. Glenn Dunnigan. The boy, described by his mother as mentally challenged and not wearing shoes, took off towards the woods after they had a disagreement.
The boy was playing outside on a trampoline and ran off after his mother disciplined him for unruly behavior, Dunnigan said. Shortly after 9 p.m., Lynn Police contacted Saugus Police and State Police for assistance. A K-9 unit and helicopter were called in for the search, and Lynn firefighters responded to Pennybrook Road with ATVs and drones.
After nearly two hours of searching, Lynn Police Sgt. Henry Wojewodzic spotted the boy running away from the rear yard of 16 Glen Ave. Wojewodzic called out the boy’s name and he came out from his hiding spot behind a car.
Dunnigan said the boy had dirty pants and socks, but was found in good health.
