North Shore Bank recently made a $2,500 donation to Peabody’s No Child Goes Hungry weekend backpack program.

Started by Dennis and Michele Feld of Evans Flowers and Greenhouse in 2017, the initiative

provides first through eighth grade students whose families qualify for free school breakfast and lunch with backpacks containing enough food and snacks for the weekend.

“Without the support of the entire community and their generous donations of backpacks, food, money, time and labor we would not be able to maintain this program and the city of Peabody would have at least 270 of its children hungry each weekend,” Jarrod Hochman, Peabody School Committee member, said. “We are so grateful for North Shore Bank’s support.”

North Shore Bank, established in 1888, is a full-service community bank operating out of 12 area offices located in Peabody, Beverly, Danvers, Merrimac, Middleton, Salem, Saugus, and Newton, N.H.

“When this program was first established, we realized that as a community bank we needed to get involved. Education and promoting the wellness of the children in our community have always been a priority for us,” said the bank’s president and CEO Kevin M. Tierney. “This citizen initiative helps not only the students but their entire family.”

For more information on the program, contact Dennis Feld at 978-531-4510.
