NEC field hockey all-stars announced

The 2018 NEC field hockey awards have been announced, with Swampscott’s Sydney Cresta taking home MVP honors for the South Division and Beverly’s Melanie Mason winning MVP in the North Division.

In addition to Cresta, Swampscott’s Natalie Domeniconi was named to the South All-Conference team. Mary Miles and Sarah Ryan represented the Big Blue on the South All-Star team.

Other players who made the South All-Conference team were Danvers’ Bella Silver, Emma Thibodeau and Shelby Johnson; Saugus’ Alessia Salzillo and Maddie Claffey; Everett’s Ashley Fitzgerald; and Gloucester’s Tracy Wood, Cate Delaney and Mia Salah.

Members of the South All-Star team included Gloucester’s Ruby Melvin, Bailey Marshall and Rachel Rallo; Danvers’ Ella Brinkley and Shannon Lynch; Saugus’ Thea Raftelis and Abby Ricciardelli; and Everett’s Ernestine Brice. Danvers’ Jill McGinnity was named Coach of the Year in the South.

In the North, Mikayla Mason, Shannon Beaudry and Nate Matthews joined Melanie Mason as Beverly players on the All-Conference team. Other All-Conference honorees in the North were Marblehead’s Bella Corsini, Josie Friedman and Charlotte Plakans; Malden’s Kenny Nguyen; Revere’s Jenna Wells and Joli Giuliano; and Peabody’s Hailee Monies and Sydney Branga.

Players who made the North All-Star team included Beverly’s Meghan Cotraro, McKenna Gelsomini and Tori Shea; Marblehead’s Madi Monahan and Amanda Schillinger; Revere’s Jannel Mercado and Jessica Vo; Malden’s Quennie Dang; and Peabody’s Sophia Izzo. Revere’s Brianna Scata was named Coach of the Year in the North.

Malden was awarded the Sportsmanship Award in the North, while Everett took home the honors in the South.
