LYNN — Massachusetts State Troopers and Lynn Police arrested a man suspected of robbing a Gloucester Bank after stopping a bus he was aboard in Lynn Monday.
Troopers from the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, who were searching for the same suspect because he allegedly cut off a court-ordered ankle bracelet several days ago, had developed information that the suspect was on the bus, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police.
Michael Robinson, 40, of Gloucester, was aboard. Lynn officers stopped the bus on Chestnut Street, located the suspect, and took him into custody. Robinson was suspected in Monday morning’s robbery of the Institution for Savings bank on Parker Street in Gloucester, according to State Police.
Troopers were already searching for Robinson after allegedly cut off a monitoring bracelet he was ordered to wear as condition of his probation from a past criminal conviction. Robinson was previously convicted of kidnapping in Essex Superior Court and served a prison term followed by his current probation.
The unarmed bank robbery is being investigated by Troopers assigned to the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and Gloucester Police. As a result of that investigation, Robinson will be charged with the robbery.
