Bishop Fenwick junior running back David Cifuentes capped off a stellar junior season with the honor of being named MVP of the Catholic Central League this week.
Cifuentes led the league in scoring with 146 points this year, logging a number of 100-plus yard games in the process. He rushed for 132 yards and four touchdowns in a Thanksgiving win over St. Mary’s.
Joining Cifuentes on the all-star team is teammate Cory Bright, who earned all-star honors for the third time. The senior quarterback missed the first three games of the season, but then returned to throw for over 1,000 yards and more than 15 touchdowns the rest of the way.
Fenwick senior lineman Tom MacDonald was named co-Offensive Lineman of the Year along with Cardinal Spellman’s Andrew Force.
Other Fenwick players to make the all-star team were senior receiver/defensive back Keegan O’Connor, senior receiver/defensive back Derek DelVecchio, senior receiver/defensive back George Fiskatoris, senior offensive lineman/linebacker Ian Connor, junior running back/linebacker Joe Rivers and sophomore quarterback/linebacker Chrys Wilson.
St. Mary’s had six players named to the all-star team, headlined by senior running back/linebacker George Freeman and senior lineman D.J. DiCenso, both of whom are now two-time CCL All-Stars. Also named to the all-star team was senior running back/defensive back Jalen Echevarria, senior lineman Jack Maguire, senior quarterback/defensive back Connor Donohue and junior receiver/linebacker Eni Falayi.
Other players who were named to the all-star team include Force, Colin Tracey, Dan D’Ambrosio, Jack Grafton and Jovan Marrero (Cardinal Spellman); Siveny Augustin, Colton Casper, Neil Sanders and Nic Tardanico (Archbishop Williams); and Joe Greaney, Josh Smith, Joe Greenwood and Frank Canceliere (Arlington Catholic).
