SAUGUS — Residents young and old will gather to watch the tallest tree in the town’s center light up Friday night.

The town’s annual tree lighting and festivities will light up Saugus Center in front of Saugus Town Hall, beginning at 5 p.m.

In addition to the chance to meet with Santa Claus, there will be a petting zoo, a moon bounce, hot chocolate, cookies, entertainment, hayrides, story time, a trackless train ride, and much more.

“This is one of our town’s most unforgettable annual events, so I hope to see you all there,” said Town Manager Scott Crabtree in a statement.

Each year, the ceremony and festivities gets bigger and more magical than ever, thanks to the countless hours of preparation and setup by volunteers, the Department of Youth and Recreation, the Department of Public Works the Building Maintenance Department, and numerous other municipal employees, said Crabtree.

The event would not be possible without the support of residents and local businesses, he said.

The tree lighting will take place at 7 p.m., and the evening will conclude by 8:30 p.m.

For more information, contact Crabtree’s office at 781-231-4111.
