SAUGUS — A Saugus woman is recovering after she was stabbed on a highway ramp and left on the side of the road in Bridgewater.
Massachusetts State Police said victim, a 32-year-old woman, was stabbed with a knife by a 36-year-old East Falmouth woman Saturday afternoon. State Police declined to identify the suspect.
At about 1:30 p.m., troopers from the State Police-Middleboro Barracks responded to reports of an assault on the ramp of Route 24 North to Route 495 northbound in Bridgewater.
According to witnesses, the vehicle, a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, stopped on the ramp and both women got out of the car. The East Falmouth woman got back into the car and fled, leaving the victim on the side of the road with stab wounds to her leg.
She was brought to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.
A Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert for the suspect vehicle was broadcast to area patrols. A short time later, the suspect was located and arrested at the Red Fox Inn on Route 1 in Foxborough. She was taken to the State Police-Middleboro Barracks, where she was booked.
At this time, the suspect is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a family or household member, second offense. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming, according to State Police.
