December 27, 2018 by Bridget Turcotte

Saugus police are searching for a man in connection to a domestic disturbance call on Hamilton Street Thursday, during which shots were fired.

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance between a man and a woman at an apartment complex at 30 Hamilton St. at about 11:30 a.m. While en route to the location, they received a second report that shots had been fired, according to a statement from Chief Ronald Giorgetti.

The man involved in the disturbance allegedly fled the scene in a Ford Taurus before police arrived at the scene.

The car was later recovered a few blocks away on Riverbank Road.

“We want the residents to rest assured that there is no danger or threat to the residents at 30 Hamilton St. or the community at large,” said Giorgetti in the statement.

Police continue to search for the suspect and are working with the woman to gather additional information. The investigation remains active, said Giorgetti, who declined to identify the suspect.
