February 13, 2019 by Bridget Turcotte

NAHANT — Three candidates have returned papers for the April town election.

Up for grabs is one three-year term on the Board of Selectmen, one one-year term on the Board of Assessors, one one-year term for constable, a three-year term on the Library Board of Trustees, a one-year term for town moderator, two five-year terms on the Planning Board, and one three-year term on the School Committee.

Carl Maccario and Joshua A. Antrim are both vying for one open seat on the Board of Selectmen. The position is currently held by Chesley Taylor, who was voted in for his first term in 2016. Taylor was previously a School Committee member.

Incumbents Robert Scanlan and Cal Hastings have returned nomination papers to be re-elected as constable and a Planning Board member, respectively. No one has yet returned papers for the other open seat on the committee.

Papers have not yet been returned for the remaining positions, but papers are still available to be picked up and are due back to the clerk’s office by Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m. The signatures on returned papers have not yet been certified by Town Clerk Margaret Barile.

Voter registration deadline is Friday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the town clerk’s office. Voting is April 27.
