LYNN — A near-car crash involving a pedestrian on Eastern Avenue quickly escalated into an argument that ended with the driver pointing a gun at the person he almost hit.
Teddy Dorsett, 21, of Peabody, was arrested as the alleged driver in the Saturday night incident after police found a gun hidden in his crotch during a traffic stop, said Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec.
Dorsett was charged with carrying a loaded firearm weapon, possession of ammo without a firearm identification card, drug possession with intent to distribute and carrying a firearm without a license.
Lynn Police received a call from a witness who said he saw a man point a handgun at an unidentified victim. The gun was allegedly brandished by Dorsett during an argument after he almost backed into the victim while he was walking, Kmiec said.
The victim didn’t report the incident, but a witness gave police a description of the suspect, later identified as Dorsett, and his car after he drove away from the scene, Kmiec said.
After police radioed the description, Dorsett’s car was pulled over on Broad Street. After finding the gun, police took him into custody, Kmiec said.
The victim has not come forward. No assault charge can be filed without the victim, Kmiec said.
