WORCESTER– Mission accomplished.
The English boys basketball team defeated Putnam 64-57 Saturday in the Division 1 state championship game at Holy Cross. Alonzo Linton scored 27 points to lead all scorers. Justin Fitzpatrick added 11 points and put the game on ice with a slam dunk in the fourth quarter.
The win marks English’s first state championship in boys basketball since 1939.
