The 6th Annual Lynn Elementary All-Star Games were held Saturday at Pickering Middle School. Festivities kicked off with the girls’ Around the World competition. In the final round, East Lynn’s Jayleen Novas defeated West Lynn’s Yomary Nunez to take home the first trophy of the day.  East Lynn took home its second trophy when Sabine Desir defeated Jada Tejada in the girls’ Free Throw contest. The West Lynn Girls avoided the sweep when they were able to claim the 31-26 victory in the All Star Game. West Lynn started out slowly, scoring only five points in the first half. West Lynn found its rhythm and exploded for 26 in the second half behind Dayana Hios Edwards’ 10 points (Hios Edwards finished with 12 overall). Tejada and Nunez added five points each for the West and Tatiana DeLeon had four. East Lynn’s high scorer was Camila Rufinos with 11 points. Nyda Rivera contributed with six points, while Katie Tartarini and Bella Owumi chipped in a basket apiece.

In the boys’ Free Throw contest, West Lynn’s Javihan Martinez beat East Lynn’s Kyle Doney in the final round. The boys’ 3-Point Shootout was won by Andy Batista, who defeated West Lynn’s Sammy Nasky. East Lynn took a five-point lead into the half of its All-Star Game but a crucial 26-2 run from West Lynn to end the game made the difference. Behind it’s big run, West Lynn prevailed, 70-46, for the victory. Javihan Martinez led West Lynn with 24 points. Kameron Rucker (11 points) and Cameron Weaver (10 points) also scored in double-figures for West Lynn. East Lynn was paced by Camron Thornton (11 points), Marvin Avery (10) and Sam Phelps (six).
