The English swim team celebrated its season Sunday night at with its annual awards banquet at Old Tyme Restaurant. The Bulldogs ended their season with a record of 3-5.
“We had so many improvements throughout the season,” said English coach Lisa Trahant. “Every swimmer gets in the pool and tries their best and that’s all I can ask for. Our team is very dedicated and hard working and the bond that swim team had this year is like no other in all my years of coaching.”
One of the great team achievements earned this season was the MIAA Academic Excellence team award.
“The importance of academics always comes first, these student athletes carry a very heavy work schedule and it is a great honor to receive this team award from the MIAA,” Trahant said.
Hannah Trahant was a Northeastern Conference all-star once again, and she was also named the Lynn Female Diver of the Year. Peter Phelan won the Michael & Michelle J. Conlon Award and was named team MVP, while Giuliana Gasca was given the John Cahill Award.
Also earning awards were Andy Nhiv (Student/Athlete), Cole Story (Red & Gray Award), Tyler Kebreau (Most Improved), Erik Whittier (Coaches Award), Carlie Harris (Peter A. Sawin Unsung Hero Award), Brooke Zahine (Spirit Award) and Caleigh Petersen (Bulldog Award).
English graduates nine seniors in Phelan, Nhiv, Petersen, Whittier, Milena Biondi, Amanda Fabrizio, Taylor Raymond, Caitlyn Troubetaris and Caroline Zuffante.
The Bulldogs also announced that their 2019-2020 captains will be Trahant, Zahine, Harris and Mary Lawlor.
