NAHANT — The Nahant Fire Department raised more than $1,800 for the American Lung Association (ALA) by climbing 789 stairs at Fight for Air Climb.

The March 30 event at One Boston Place in Boston was the third that Nahant firefighters have participated in, but the first for Chief Michael Feinberg. Nahant firefighters Robert Tibbo, Sean Carritte, and Merissa Titus were among more than 450 firefighters from local departments climbed a Boston skyscraper with 41 floors.

“This was a grueling exercise that was well worth it to support a great cause like the American Lung Association,” said Feinberg. “On behalf of our whole team, I want to express our gratitude to everyone who donated to support this effort.”

The Fight for Air Climb is a signature fundraiser event of the ALA and climbs are held annually in skyscrapers across the country. Participants climb hundreds of stairs with the goal of raising money to support the ALA’s lung health research, patient education, and public policy efforts.
