April 19, 2019 by Bella diGrazia

SWAMPSCOTT — Honoring the memory of Anne Marie Collier, the Swampscott Democratic Town Committee will host a scholarship fundraiser on May 5.

This year, the $1,000 scholarship will pay tribute to Collier, who was a dedicated and active committee member with a passion for social justice, according to the committee’s press release. The event will be held in a private home from 2-4 p.m.

“Our committee is very excited to be offering this first-time scholarship to a graduating senior and we hope that this inspires our young citizens to become involved in the politics and policies surrounding them,” Deborah Shelkan Remis, the Scholarship Committee Chair, said in a press release.

Donations for the scholarship can be mailed to the committee’s treasurer at 167 Redington St., Swampscott, MA 01907, made online at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/sdtc.scholarship, or can be given at the door during the event. Attendees are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the committee’s monthly food drive that benefits local food pantries. For more information, contact [email protected].
