LYNN — A Union Street brunch brawl led to the arrest of five people Saturday afternoon.

Lynn Police received a disturbance call from inside El Malecon Restaurant & Bar, 170 Union St., late Saturday afternoon, according to Lieutenant Rick Donnelly. At the scene, Lynn resident Ashley Marie told the Item she was inside the restaurant having brunch when the brawl broke out, but she didn’t see how it started.

When responding officers arrived, they found several people out in the street fighting and “unruly,” Donnelly said.

“Officers tried to calm them down,” he said. “Some did and some didn’t. People wouldn’t listen and we were grossly outnumbered. The sergeant on scene called for mutual aid.”

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Union Street was flooded with police officers from Lynn, Swampscott, Saugus, Salem, Beverly, Peabody, Marblehead, and State Police departments. Donnelly said several streets surrounding the area were closed for a short time.

Sometime after 6 p.m., the situation was under control, according to Donnelly. No weapons were involved, no one was hurt, and five people were taken into custody.

The five people arrested were: Jesse Gaudet, 27, of Salem; Johnafer White, 39, of Lynn; Brayham Garcia, 29, of Lynn; Alyssa Todd, 28, of Salem; and Everton Lloyd Muir, 34, of Lynn.
