SAUGUS — Saugus Police arrested a Lynn woman following an armed robbery on Friday.

Siara Fonseca, 32, was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to a press release from Saugus Police. At 1:59 p.m. on Friday, she reportedly approached a victim with a knife in the area of 20 Houston Ave. and stole his cell phone.

Police, while searching for Fonseca, Saugus Police shared identifying information about her to area law enforcement agencies. She was stopped later on Friday in Lynn at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets by Lynn Police and State Police, according to the press release.

Saugus Police  took Fonseca into custody with no incident.

“I want to commend our patrol division members for their quick work investigating this incident and apprehending the suspect,” said Interim Saugus Police Chief Ronald Giorgetti. “This would not have been possible without the coordination and collaboration with our partners in Lynn and with the State Police.”

She is being held without bail pending arraignment.
