LYNN — A 31-year-old Lynn man was arrested on gun charges on Monday night in connection with a shooting last week on Essex Street, police said.
David Chen was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm weapon, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
Last Friday night, police responded to 435 Essex St. on a report of two men with a firearm. People on scene relayed that an Asian man had the gun and fired a shot into the air, which was later confirmed by video surveillance, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
An investigation by Lynn detectives and video surveillance identified Chen as a suspect. He was subsequently arrested, but the gun used during the incident has not been recovered, Kmiec said.
