LYNNFIELD — There’s a new addition to the Lynnfield Public Library.
Lauren Fox, a Connecticut native, was recently hired as head of Youth Services.
The Early Childhood Education and Theater major graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2014.
Given the lack of jobs among libraries, Fox said she was lucky to be chosen.
“I was fortunate,” she said. “I lost track of the number of resumes I sent out. But I really wanted to work in a small town, and Lynnfield is the right fit.”
She joins the LPL staff from Clark Memorial Library in Bethany, Conn., where she served as library assistant where she answered reference questions and provided individual internet and technology instruction to visitors, assisted patrons in finding library materials, and curated rotating young adult displays.
In addition, she was a tutor for homebound students in the Hamden Public Schools in Hamden, Conn., where she taught elementary, middle and high school students one on one. She read grade-level books with students and aided in comprehension skills, and communicated with teachers and parents to support students’ education.
The experience in those two roles will no doubt give her an edge as she gets settled in the new job.
