August 20, 2019 by Bella diGrazia

SWAMPSCOTT — An 81-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing Humphrey Street at a crosswalk Tuesday night.

The victim was conscious when first responders arrived, said Sgt. Jay Locke. She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital by ambulance with a head injury and no life-threatening injuries, he said.

The accident occurred at the pedestrian light past King’s Beach, near the “Welcome to Swampscott” sign and just past Mission on the Bay, said Locke. The driver who hit her stayed on scene until first responders arrived.

Officers from Swampscott’s detective and patrol divisions and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
