LYNN — A two- car motor vehicle crash Thursday morning at Summer and South street left an SUV tipped over on its side and sent a 19-year-old woman to the hospital with minor injuries.
Fire Capt. Joseph Zukas said a man driving a Comcast Xfinity van collided with the woman driving a blue Toyota Highlander at about 11:30 a.m.
“It was more of a tip over than a rollover,” said Zukas. “It might have looked worse than it was.”
Firefighters used a procedure called cribbing to stabilize the tipped-over Toyota. Zukas said they put wood bracing under the vehicle so it did not pose any danger to emergency responders or the woman inside, he said.
Zukas said the woman was transported to Salem Hospital by ambulance.
Zukas said firefighters on scene reported one of the drivers didn’t see the traffic signal but did not indicate which driver missed the signal.
“Whenever a car is up on its side, there is a danger of the car tripping over on first responders,” said Zukas. “There was significant damage to both vehicles but it sounds like minor injuries to the one female operator.”
