WOBURN —Massage therapist Daniel Feener was arraigned in Woburn District Court Thursday on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and North Reading Police Chief Michael Murphy.
Feener, 35, of Peabody, allegedly assaulted a woman during a massage at Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center in North Reading on Monday.
Police said the victim went to the spa for a scheduled massage and requested treatment that focused on her shoulders and back.
But during the massage, police said Feener allegedly began touching her inappropriately and proceeded to assault her before also placing her hand on him. The victim allegedly asked the defendant to stop and subsequently reported the assault to police.
The Item does not name victims of sexual assault.
Authorities suspect there may be others who have been victimized by Feener. He is described as a six-foot-tall white man, with brown hair.
Feener completed massage school in 2018 and is licensed in Massachusetts, police said. Feener has reportedly worked at Tai Chi Acupuncture & Wellness Center in North Reading for several months. It is not known if he has worked in other area massage or wellness centers.
Police are asking the public who may have been a client of Daniel Feener’s, and believe there was indecent behavior during a massage, to contact North Reading Police at 978-357-5067 or 978-657-tips or submit a tip through anonymous text through NRPD.org
He is being held without bail pending a hearing scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18.
