LYNN — A 68-year-old Lynn man has died after driving into oncoming traffic on Chestnut Street and crashing into two cars Monday morning, police said.
The man, who has not been identified by authorities, was driving westbound on Chestnut Street near Adams Street shortly before 10:30 a.m. when the crash occurred, Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
He was taken to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There were no other serious injuries reported, Kmiec said.
The Lynn Police Traffic Investigation Unit and State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. It’s unclear if a medical episode caused the man to drive into the opposite lane, Kmiec said.
Following the crash, Chestnut Street was shut down for two hours while police investigated, Kmiec said.
