LYNN — A female driver crashed into another vehicle while being chased by police, sending herself and two other people to the hospital Wednesday evening.
At about 7 p.m., Lynn Police officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense on Joyce Street when the driver backed up and allegedly almost hit the officers, according to Lynn Lt. Michael Kmiec. She struck their cruiser and drove away before crashing into another vehicle at Essex and Chatham streets, he said.
The passenger of the suspect vehicle ran away and was quickly taken into custody after a police foot pursuit, Kmiec said. The driver of the suspect car was also taken into custody, he said.
The 37-year-old driver of the car struck at the intersection was taken to the hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries, he said. Both suspects were arrested and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, he added.
Officers recovered a firearm and ammunition at the scene, Kmiec said. The suspects will face several charges and are expected to be arraigned in Lynn District Court on Thursday.
