LYNN — The North Shore Navigators announced that Lynn natives Joe Gill and Ashley Laramie officially stepped down from their positions with the team on Monday in order to pursue other personal and professional opportunities.
The two longest-tenured employees in franchise history completed their respective tenures working together as the team’s assistant general managers over the last two summers. Gill and Laramie both rose through the ranks of the front office, ultimately assuming several other roles under the legendary Bill Terlecky. They helped the team earn Organization of the Year honors from the Futures Collegiate Baseball League in both 2015 and 2018.
“Joe and Ashley have been dedicated employees since the early years of Navigators baseball,” said Derek January, the team’s new co-owner. “They have both worked just about every job in the organization. Their energy and passion for the Navs will be missed. We wish them both well in their future endeavors.”
Gill, who graduated from St. Mary’s and Saint Anselm College, has been a fixture in the press box at Fraser Field since he was hired as the team’s official scorer in 2011. Two years later, he took over the team’s media and public relations duties from Michael Ghika. Gill was responsible for all aspects of the team’s communications and, in recent years, added community relations and player procurement to his responsibilities. Along with January, Gill was a key figure in building North Shore’s 30-win, playoff-qualifying team in 2019.
“I am truly honored to have been able to work with Bill Terlecky, Ashley Laramie, Josh Kummins and so many others over the past nine years to play a small role in continuing the rich history of baseball at Fraser Field,” Gill said. “The opportunity to meet so many great people along the way, including players, interns and community members, has been a truly invaluable experience that will always be special. I wish the Navigators organization continued success as Lynn’s hometown baseball team.”
Laramie began her tenure at Fraser Field in 2010, serving as an intern during North Shore’s championship season in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The Lynn Classical High School and Lasell College graduate got her start under then-GM Peter Delani and then moved into an administrative role alongside Terlecky, becoming the team’s assistant general manager in 2013. Among many other duties in her most recent role, Laramie oversaw day-of-game operations at Fraser Field, including group outings and concessions, as well as the player host family program.
“After 10 years with the Navigators, I am taking a new career path into the teaching world and felt that this was the right time to complete my tenure in the front office,” Laramie said. “I am sad to walk away, but this chapter of my life will remain open because of the relationships formed with everyone around the team. It has truly been a great ride. I wish the new owners and staff of my ‘forever team’ the best of luck and continued success.”
The Navs are now preparing for the 13th season of collegiate baseball at Fraser Field and their ninth in the Futures League. The 2020 season is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 27.
