Item Santa: Every child deserves a Christmas

dkane

December 11, 2019 by dkane

When a family struggles around the holiday season, it takes its toll on everyone in the house. Often it can take a group effort just to make ends meet.

For one single mother of three young girls the whole family has to do what they can to get by, let alone enjoy a great and memorable Christmas each year that goes by.

This mother describes her daughters of ages 10, 5 and another just a few years old, as “amazing and lovable,” and says they’re always helping around the house however they can. That means helping with the household chores like cleaning or watching their younger siblings at times.

Every child deserves a day on Christmas to forget about their families’ troubles and smile, especially three girls who help make their mother’s job any bit easier.

Now this mom wants to give her daughters a Christmas to remember, and she can’t do it alone.

“The most important thing for me is to see them happy this Christmas,” she wrote. “Thank you for taking the Lynn children into account this holiday season.”

Her oldest daughter wants some gifts to help her get creative this year, including paints and materials for her to make bracelets out of. Her sisters are also into bracelets, but are hoping Santa can bring them a pair of baby dolls this Christmas.

The Item and the Salvation Army have been committed to providing special Christmas experiences for families like this for years now, and with the help of generous donations from readers all over the area they will be able to continue doing so.

Now in its 53rd year, the Item Santa fund helps to make Christmas brighter for the needy. To donate, clip the coupon in The Item and mail it, along with your check, to The Item Salvation Army Santa, PO Box 5, Lynn, MA 01903. There is also a way to donate online, and have your contributions acknowledged, just click on the following link: https://newitemlive.wpengine.com/itemsanta.

All donations are listed in Item print editions through the month of December and into 2020, along with a brief message from each donor, if desired.

NOTE: The application period for aid from Item Santa has closed and The Item does not process applicants. All questions about the program and distribution of gifts should be directed to Salvation Army at 781-598-0673.
