LYNN — A National Grid power outage first reported at 2:38 p.m. has been partially repaired but the company’s latest estimate is that 700 residents will see power restored by 9 p.m.
“We believe it’s an underground fault, but we are still assessing. The infrastructure is underground in that area, so our crews are on scene checking (from manhole to manhole) for where the fault might be,” said National Grid spokeswoman Christine Milligan.
The outage initially stretched from Nahant Street almost to the Lynn-Swampscott line and from Lewis and Broad streets to Lynn Shore Drive. Power was restored to about one-third of the affected area after 4 p.m.
