The Saugus boys hockey team grabbed its first win of the season with a wild back-and-forth 10-6 win over Lynn Saturday night at Kasabuski Arena. Saugus, down 4-3 at the second intermission, pulled out of Lynn’s reach with seven third-period goals. Three of those were scored by Lorenzo Keegan, who finished with four goals and two assists. Richie Mauro scored a goal and recorded four assists. Massey Ventre (two goals), Jason Caron (goal), Jason Freehling (first varsity goal) and Mike Capone (first varsity goal) rounded out Saugus’ scoring.
Lynn’s Matt Devin scored three goals. Matt Patrie, Luke Rao and Christian Alquinta each scored once.
The Sachems (1-5) travel to Beverly Wednesday (4).
The Jets (0-7) visit Marblehead Tuesday (7:30).
BOYS HOCKEY
St. Mary’s 4, Andover 1
Sophomore goalie Owen Giangrande logged his second win in as many starts with a 21-save performance.
St. Mary’s pulled away with three goals in the third period after entering the final frame in a 1-1 tie. Kyle LoNigro led the offense with a hat trick, sealing the win with two empty-netters. Brady Bullock gave St. Mary’s a 2-1 lead in the third period.
The Spartans (6-0-1) visit Newburyport Wednesday (7).
Fenwick 4, Austin Prep 3 (OT)
It goes down as a tie in the books for the Crusaders, who nonetheless earned a point in the CCL shodown at McVann-O’Keefe. Nick Muzi and Ian Worthley scored two goals apiece. Worthley netted the game-winner just 15 seconds into the 4-on-4 OT period.
Fenwick (4-2-1) visits Medford Monday (7).
Marblehead 4, Beverly 2
Scoring goals for Marblehead were Zach Piersol, Eli Feingold, Chris Locke and Colin Hart. Marblehead pulled away from Beverly in the third period, turning a 1-1 tie into the 4-2 lead.
The Magicians (6-1) travel to Plymouth North Monday (7:30).
Lynnfield 4, Pentucket 1
At Haverhill, Sam Pifko powered the Pioneers with two goals. Ronnie Fuccillo and Danny Mack scored one each.
Lynnfield (4-3-1) travels to Amesbury Thursday (8:10).
Gloucester 3, Winthrop 1
Winthrop (4-2-2) hosts Cambridge Wednesday (6:10).
GIRLS HOCKEY
Fenwick 5, Beverly 2
The Crusaders (6-0-2) remain unbeaten after Sunday’s non-league win.
Goalie Cailyn Wesley made 19 saves. Gabby Davern scored two goals, including an empty-netter with two seconds on the clock. Abbey Millman, Lauren Diranian and Zoe Elwell (first varsity goal) each scored once. Allison Countie played an outstanding game on defense.
Fenwick shifts its focus to Wednesday’s (5:15) crosstown battle against Peabody.
St. Mary’s 2, Boston Latin 2
The Spartans carried a 2-0 lead into the third period at Connery Rink but watched it slip away. Sam Porazinski and Maggie Pierce each scored one goal. Assists came from Marina DiBiasio, Lexie Turner and Zoe Solomons.
“One bright spot was I thought Rhyan Pitari played well in net, especially in the third period,” coach Frank Pagliuca said. “She made a couple big saves on the PK. Hopefully this game was a wake up call moving forward and we won’t repeat this performance again.”
St. Mary’s (4-0-2) visits St. Joseph’s Saturday night (8).

BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 54, Mt. Pleasant (RI) 35
A close game through the first three quarters, the Spartans pulled away in the fourth quarter on their home floor.
Joey Abate-Walsh logged a double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while adding four blocks. Sammy Batiste scored 15 points and dished three assists.
St. Mary’s, still undefeated at 7-0, travels to Cardinal Spellman Monday (6:30).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Mary’s 74, Nauset 44
Make that eight wins in a row for the Spartans, who pulled away from Nauset behind a 31-2 third-quarter run.
The Spartans had another night of balanced scoring led by Maiya Bergdorf (22 points, 10 rebounds), Jannise Avelino (16 points, 11 rebounds), and Nicolette D’Itria (eight points, right assists, six steals). Gabby Torres led another great defensive effort and scored 13 points.
The Spartans (8-1) host Spellman Monday (6:30).
SWIMMING
Fenwick 85, Lowell Catholic 85
Fenwick featured four first-place finishes in the meet at Greater Lowell: the 200 medley relay team of Emily DelBene, Audrey Waldinger, Sabrina Botthof and Meredith Yuhasz (2:08.90); Yuhasz in the 100 butterfly (1:08.99) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.84); Audrey Waldinger in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.36).
Fenwick swims against St. Mary’s Wednesday (8) at St. John’s.
WRESTLING
Lynnfield/North Reading (186 points) finished third out of seven teams at the Cohasset Tournament.
Top performers were Christian Real-Costa (third place at 113 pounds), Timmy Leggett (third place, 132), Stuart Glover (first place, 138), Ethan Barnes-Felix (fourth place, 145), Ryan McCullough (fourth place, 152), Dan Ryan (sixth place, 160), Gerry Callagy (third place, 170), Sean McCoullough (first place, 182), Giovanni Colucciello (second place, 195), Brandon Ouellette (third place, 220) and Camier (third place, 285).
“We were able to place all 11 wrestlers we brought to the tournament,” said coach Craig Stone. “For the third consecutive season tournament (Wakefield, Pentucket and Cohasset) we have constantly improved on last year’s performance by scoring more team points and having more place finishers than the previous three years.”
Lynnfield hosts Masconomet Wednesday (6:15).
