The St. Mary’s boys hockey team continued its streak of strong play Wednesday night, as the Spartans remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-1 win over Newburyport on the road at Henry Graf Skating Rink.
Goal scorers on the night (there were six of them) for the Spartans were Christian Moran, Max Giardina, Brady Bullock, Brady Carpenter, Davis Kinne and Colby Magliozzi. Kory Ouellette logged two assists. Bullock, Carpenter, Magliozzi, Chris Kolodziej, Dante D’Ambrosio, Harrison Kinne, Seamus Foley each dished one assist.
Goalie Owen Giangrande recorded 22 saves.
“It’s always good to get a win on the road,” coach Mark Lee said. “They’re a team that historically plays us tough. I liked the way we played. We had a few guys that played sick. A lot of them are fighting the flu. I thought it was a great effort. The guys played hard.”
St. Mary’s (7-0-1) hosts Arlington Catholic Saturday (6:20) in a Catholic Central League battle at Connery Rink.

Senior Ryan Hart scored the lone goal for the Eagles, while goalie Noah Dorsey-Sorofman notched his second shutout of the season.

Conor Donovan scored the lone goal for Swampscott. Christopher Locke and Drew Olivieri each had one assist.

The Tanners came up short in the 9th annual Mike Clifford Memorial Game. Peabody (3-6-0) hosts Saugus Saturday afternoon (4).

Bobby Jellison had a big game for the Witches, notching 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Ethan Doyle added 15 points and five steals in the win.

Amber Crayton scored 20 points in the loss for the Rams.

Make that two wins for English in as many days, as they improved to 6-1 (4-0 in Northeastern Conference play).

SWIMMING
Tech 91, Northeast 77
The Tigers had a pair of double-winners en route to their first victory over Northeast in 15 years. Liam Donovan took first in both the 200 freestyle (2:33.18) and the 500 freestyle (7:23.0), while Luis Hernandez took first in diving (170.4 points) and the 50 freestyle (28.4 seconds). Also grabbing wins for Tech were Jeremiah Arzola in the 100 freestyle (1:07.6) and Dustin Bloom in the 100 backstroke (1:19.04). The team of Donovan, Hernandez, Arzola and Bloom won the 200 freestyle relay (1:54.90) and the team of Hernandez, Arzola, Bloom and Jeff Bucko won the 200 medley relay (2:15.82).
Tech (1-2) swims against Greater Lowell Friday afternoon (3:30).
