LYNN — Police said drivers involved in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in one of the city’s intersections sustained minor injuries.
The accident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at Chestnut Street and Western Avenue when a tractor-trailer on Chestnut turned left onto Western toward Salem and the Honda CRV traveling in the opposite direction on Chestnut Street entered the intersection.
“We could hear the truck rumble by and the next thing I knew, boom, it was stopped in the road,” said Mr. Specs Opticians owner Alan Piccole.
Piccole looked out his store window at the corner of Chestnut Street and Western Avenue and saw the truck’s hood jammed up against the Honda CRV’s front end. Piccole said a woman got out of the CRV and removed a small child from a safety seat inside the vehicle before walking to the sidewalk.
Piccole said he has witnessed dozens of accidents in the well-traveled intersection during the past three decades, including large multi-vehicle collisions and rollovers.
