LYNN — An 18-year-old Salem woman is recovering after being shot twice on Grant Street Sunday afternoon, police said.
The woman had been shot in her arm and stomach. She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where she underwent surgery. Her injuries were serious, but were deemed non-life-threatening. Lynn Police Lt. Michael Kmiec said.
Police were alerted to the shooting by the woman’s friend at noon, who called while she was driving the victim to Salem Hospital. Officers responded to both the scene and the hospital, Kmiec said.
The incident is under investigation, but police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute in the area that involved the victim.
“The parties are believed to be known to one another,” said Kmiec. “It doesn’t appear to be random.”
Police said there are suspects, but no arrests have been made.
