BOSTON — There’s a definite ’90s rock flair to this year’s Boston Calling music festival, which takes place at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24.

It was announced Tuesday that the recently reunited Rage Against The Machine will headline on Saturday May 23. It’s the rock icons’ only scheduled performance in New England this year; the band last played together in 2011.

Foo Fighters will headline on Friday, May 22, and Red Hot Chili Peppers will round out the festival on Sunday, May 24.

A diverse lineup of more than 60 artists will perform on the festival’s five stages, including established acts The 1975, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Run The Jewels, Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, Banks, and Liam Gallagher.

Other noteworthy acts include English rockers The Struts, the dynamic Sharon Van Etten, indie rock phenom Phoebe Bridgers, and psychedelic country star Orville Peck,

This 11th edition of the festival will feature a variety of local talent, including rockers Dinosaur Jr., hip-hop star Cliff Notez, rock bands PVRIS and The Sheila Divine, and industrial hip-hop crew Camp Blood. Also in the lineup are 19 local comedians and 12 of Boston’s best DJs.
