It was a milestone night for Saugus’ Christian Correia, who had a massive 43-point, 10-rebound performance in a 91-52 win over Northeast for the Sachems boys basketball team. Not only was it a career-high output for Correia, but he also notched his 1,000th career point in the process.
“It’s just a tremendous accomplishment and he’s really earned it,” said Saugus coach Mark Bertrand. “He’s been a starter since his sophomore year and he’s our go-to guy. It’s hard to score all those points when the defense is keying on you, but he works so hard. And the first thing he did was thank his teammates, that’s the kind of guy he is.”
Mason Nickolas added 16 points in the win, while Myles Manalaysay scored 12 points.
The Sachems (8-11) close out the season Wednesday night (7) against Medford.
