Can you spell “ultimate binge watch?”
You don’t have to, as it turns out. You can just tune into ESPN Sunday.
With no live action sports, ESPN is digging into its archives to find classics from the past. Sunday, ESPN will air a seven-hour marathon of past Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals.
The Item has hosted the regional Scripps Spelling Bee for this area of Massachusetts for 25 years. The winner of that contest goes to Washington for the national competition that ESPN televises.
ESPN has picked some of the best moments, including three of the most dramatic finals.
The telecast begins Sunday at noon with the 1997 final won by Rebecca Sealfon, followed by the 2004 competition won by David Tidmarsh and the 2008 competition at 5, won by Sameer Mishra.
