LYNN — The city is up to 621 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, which includes 11 deaths, according to data released by Mayor Thomas M. McGee’s office on Monday.
There were 33 new virus cases on Monday, which represents the lowest day-to-day jump since last Wednesday when there were 31 new cases.
Numbers spiked on Friday and Saturday, with 60 and 70 new virus cases respectively, but the day-to-day increase declined significantly on Sunday and Monday.
Of the total confirmed cases, 577 are active. Thirty-three people have recovered from the illness. The city’s first confirmed case was on March 21.
Statistics from the mayor’s office show the majority of people being diagnosed with COVID-19 in the city are between the ages of 21-61.
There have been 229 confirmed cases for people between 21-41 years old, and 217 cases for those between the ages of 41-61.
There have been 131 cases for older adults between the ages of 61-101, and on the other side of the spectrum, the city’s youngest residents have been least affected. There have only been 39 cases for people 21 and under. Five babies have been infected.
To try to curb the spread of the virus, McGee has instituted an overnight curfew between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., and ordered all residents to wear a face mask when entering essential businesses or public places.
