On Saturday, April 11, I was standing in line at the Market Basket on Federal Street. A young man was just ahead of me and a woman was ahead of him. She noticed he wasn’t wearing a mask and asked him if he had one. He said, “No.” She said, “I have an extra one in my car. I’ll go get it for you.”
About three minutes later she still wasn’t back and the line had moved closer to the entrance. I started looking around to see if I could see her coming back.
I saw her on her phone and then she took off toward her car and, with nary a second to spare, she returned and handed the young man the mask.
She jeopardized her own position in a lengthy line to provide protection equipment to a stranger. She was undeterred in her quest. I found that to be a remarkable act of kindness.
