LYNN — For the past six summers, the Lynn Parks and Recreation Department has been hosting Youth Summer Track & Field Meets. This has been an extremely popular activity that is normally held on seven consecutive Monday evenings during the summer. The eligibility was “yes I can walk” to high school age.
Unfortunately, this year’s program has been cancelled due to the pandemic. But in its place, Lynn Parks and Recreation is offering exercises that youngsters, some with the assistance of adults, can perform close to home.
The performances will be recorded on a weekly basis by posting them online in a series of virtual events. There is no entry fee for any of these events. All communities are welcome.
Interested participants can email Joe Abelon at [email protected] with the following information:
— Last Name
— First Name
— City
— State
— Gender
— Age
Each participant will be emailed her/his assigned number and will use that number when sending in performances. Performances should be sent only once per scheduled week.
Participants are also to follow state and city guidelines for social distancing, including the wearing of masks.
Each week, Parks and Recreation will post the performances of specific runs and exercises. The schedule will be updated periodically.
