Lynn English graduate Julianna Perry has won the second annual Vanessa Masucci Scholarship, the family announced last week.
The scholarship was established after Masucci’s 2017 murder. Masucci graduated from St. Mary’s High in 2005 and played softball and basketball for the Spartans.
Perry, said Angela Masucci, Vanessa’s sister, “is an amazing student athlete who donated so much time volunteering in the community.”
Perry will attend the University of Hartford as a biology major and hopes to work as a pediatrician in the future.
“My family is so honored to have such a great leader and role model as the recipient to my sister’s scholarship,” Masucci said. “We miss Vanessa every day but it brings us joy to see her name associated with great student athletes from Lynn.
“Julianna Perry, you make our community proud and we know you will continue to do so,” she said.
