SWAMPSCOTT — Unofficial results from the Swampscott town election Tuesday night showed Neal Duffy and David Grishman have won the two open seats on the Select Board.

Duffy got 1,263 votes, and Grishman got 990 votes, beating out Stephen T. Williams, who had 834 votes.

The two seats contested on the Select Board were vacated by previous Select Board members Naomi Dreeben and Laura Spathanas, who opted not to run for re-election.

For school committee, Suzanne Wright and John N. Giantis won.

Dreeben, who ran for the Housing Authority, beat Alan G. Ledbury.

The Swampscott town election Tuesday looked quite different because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., all voting residents, regardless of precinct, were asked to vote at the high school, 200 Essex St., a change from the past, when multiple voting locations were used.

Voters were also asked to socially distance, wear masks, and bring their own black- or blue-ink pens if possible.

Other offices were not contested, including moderator, incumbent Michael McClung; Board of Assessors, incumbent Tasia Vasiliou; library trustee, incumbent Ellen Winkler; Board of Health, incumbent Emily Cilley; and Planning Board, incumbent William Quinn.

Thursday’s paper will also include a full breakdown of the election.
