Letter to the Editor: We will get through this

After all this, we still don’t know much about this virus. The news about it is different depending on the channel you watch or read online.

If you believe the drug hydroxychloroquine, also known as plaquenil, works on the virus as Trump has said, let me tell you, it doesn’t.

It is used for treating malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. I was on it for my rheumatoid arthritis and it didn’t work and it gave me tachycardia, which means your heart beats too fast or too slow. I am no longer on it.

We want to know if the virus is lessening or spreading and what is going on with finding a vaccine, but the talk seems more about protesting.

I certainly understand why people are marching and protesting and I am sympathetic and agree with it. But really? They aren’t all wearing masks and they are crowded together.

Places are reopening. Some are re-closing already because the virus is spreading with the spread worse in other states. They want us to believe it is because they are doing more testing. I believe that is only partly correct.

The virus seems to affect everyone of different ages differently. A television program showed a 20-year-old getting a lung transplant because coronavirus destroyed his lung.

We all need to get along now and I think developed countries need to work together to find a vaccine for this virus. It seems likely we need more than one vaccine.

Places are opening yet they tell you to stay in, then they tell you how lovely it is at the beach but make sure you stay apart. They don’t know much more than what we know.

Are things ever going to be the same? Probably not. But we are the United States of America and, hopefully, we will be better. God forbid this happens again. If it does, we will be much better prepared.

In the meantime, don’t watch the news a lot; have a sense of humor and watch something funny. Stay positive; keep busy, and take this just one day at a time and we will get through this one day at a time. Stay strong and positive.
