LYNN — A neighbor in the vicinity of 134 Fayette St. said Sunday that he heard a lot of shots coming from that address and he wasn’t surprised that a man died as a result of the multiple shooting.

“It was ‘bang, bang,’ and another life taken,” said the man, who did not want to be identified. “This is a crazy world.”

Noe Hernandez, 35, of Lynn, was shot to death during a Fourth of July cookout Saturday night on Fayette Street. Four others were wounded, one seriously.

According to Carrie Kimball, a spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s office, one of the other victims was taken to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries, but was still alive. The other three wounded persons were expected to survive, she said.

The shooting occurred around 9:58 p.m, Lynn police said Saturday night No arrests have been made. Police have ruled it a homicide.

Hernandez was taken to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Kimball said.

Sunday afternoon, there was no obvious police presence around 134 Fayette St., which is about halfway between Collins and Essex Streets.  Neighbors, who did not wish to give their names, varied in their accounts of the previous evening.

One man in the area said he heard lots of loud voices before the shooting — but he added that he wasn’t sure if it was an argument or just people celebrating the Fourth of July.

“The whole neighborhood was loud,” he said.

Another woman said she was in her home, only a few buildings down, all evening and did not hear or notice anything out of the ordinary.
