PEABODY — Directors of the Puritan Lawn Educational Foundation awarded $5,000 scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year to four local students. Recipients are Elizabeth Pierce of Lynn (UMass Amherst), Jennifer Robles of Lynn (UMass Lowell), Hailey Lewis of Lynn (UMass Amherst) and Peyton Applegate of Marblehead (North Carolina State University at Raleigh).

Each candidate was selected due to her exemplary character and maturity, academic success, and a deep ability to care for others. Foundation directors were proud to meet each candidate in person and reward their amazing achievements.

The Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Educational Foundation was established by Peabody’s Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematory in 1997 in order to assist area students with expenses related to their educational endeavors. The Foundation has provided 67 students with more than $195,000 in scholarships since its inception.

Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced extreme hardship during their high school years, yet are highly motivated to continue their education. The Foundation’s goal is to provide four-year scholarships to deserving youths interested in continuing their education with two-year and four-year college programs as well as trade schools. Every penny of funds raised support educational scholarships for local youth. To help support the mission of the educational foundation please contact Krystle Kelly at [email protected] or (978) 535-3660.

Applications will be released for 2021 scholarships in March. Please visit The Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Educational Foundation Facebook page for more information. Applications will also be available at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park office and with local-area school guidance counselors.
