SAUGUS — Four officers were sworn-in to the Saugus Police Department last week.
The ceremony, for officers Jacob Roy, Nolan Dipanfilo, Paul Bridges, and Jake Aldred, was one of Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli’s first public appearances since he was appointed to his position late last month.
“I am happy to warmly welcome Officers Roy, Dipanfilo, Bridges, and Aldred to the Saugus Police Department,” Ricciardelli said. “These new officers have demonstrated their strong work ethic and dedication to public safety and service, and we are excited for them to begin their careers by serving and protecting the community.”
The men all attended and graduated from the North Essex Community College Police Academy in Haverhill.
Officer Roy served in the United States Navy from 2011 until 2015, during which he received multiple medals for his service, including the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the First Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Endicott College.
Officer Dipanfilo holds an associate’s degree and is currently working toward his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at Salem State College. He is a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School.
Officer Bridges holds a Bachelor’s Degree in business management from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, while officer Aldred is a graduate of Northeast Metropolitan Regional High School. Aldred attended North Shore Community College from 2014 to 2015.
Ricciardelli, whose appointment was announced by Town Manager Scott Crabtree on June 22 after an extensive selection process, is a 25-year veteran of the Saugus Police Department. He served eight years as a lieutenant, two years as a sergeant, and 15 years as a patrol officer prior to his appointment as Police Chief.
“I am proud to announce the appointment of Officers Roy, Dipanfilo, Bridges and Aldred to the Saugus Police Department,” Crabtree said in a statement. “I congratulate all of them and their families for their hard work. These officers’ clear commitment to public safety and extensive training through the Police Academy will be a great asset to the Town, and I wish them the best success in their new roles.”
