August 12, 2020 by Gayla Cawley

The surge in new coronavirus cases continued in Lynn and Revere on Wednesday, with both reporting another double-digit increase.

New cases were also reported in Peabody on Wednesday, but numbers did not change in several other North Shore communities.

With 17 new cases reported, Lynn now has 4,260 cases, 665 of which are active. A total of 111 residents have died and 3,484 have recovered from the virus, according to city data.

In Revere, 18 new cases were reported to bring the city’s caseload to 2,170. Ninety-four people have died and 1,949 have recovered, according to the city website.

Seven new cases have been reported in Peabody since Monday to bring the city’s total number of cases to 1,185. The death toll remained the same at 174 and 889 people have recovered, according to the health department.

Numbers remained the same in Lynnfield (111 cases, 11 deaths) and Nahant (50 cases, six deaths) and were not updated in Marblehead, Saugus or Swampscott.

As of Monday, Marblehead had 255 cases and 30 deaths and Swampscott had 146 cases and 10 deaths. Saugus has not released updated numbers since last Friday when the town reported 604 cases and 38 deaths.
