LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield Library has recently announced it is offering several new programs beginning in late August.
The popular “Weekly Yoga on Zoom” program is back beginning Thursday, Sept. 10. Once again, the course will be taught by Tammy Syrigos. The library is asking anyone interested to complete a short poll posted on the library’s website to help the library determine the best time to offer the program.
The library is offering three-week long WiFi hotspots to anyone who needs WiFi at home or while taking a trip. To check out a hot spot, call the library at (781) 334-5411.
“Surprise New Book Bags,” a program in which five new books in many categories will be chosen by staff members for young readers to take home, is now being offered. Popular book categories include: picture books, beginning readers, beginning chapter books, board books, children’s fiction (chapter books), children’s nonfiction, children’s graphic novels, young adult fiction and young adult graphic novels/manga. Email Head of Youth Services Lauren Fox at [email protected] to request a bag of new books in any of these categories. The library can also create themed bags, such as dog picture books, young adult romances or sports. To learn more and see examples of the bags, go to https://www.lynnfieldlibrary.org/new-childrens-and-young-adult-book-bags/.
“Teen Book Tuesdays” and “First Chapter Fridays,” two new weekly pre-recorded programs, are now being offered. The library will be posting a new video of Fox reading the first chapter of a children’s book (ages 8-12) on Fridays and a video of Fox reading the first chapter of a young adult book (13-18) on Tuesdays. The videos will be posted on the library’s Facebook page at approximately 11 a.m. For those without Facebook accounts, email Fox at [email protected] and the videos will be emailed to you. Young readers can then order the book from Sidewalk Service or borrow it from the library’s Libby or hoopla service to finish the book on their own.
“Sidewalk Service” and “Technology” are still going strong. The dates and times for Sidewalk Service can be found on the library’s website. Please call the library at (781) 334-5411 or email [email protected] with questions about either program or to make an appointment. Online registration is also available to schedule pickup times. Residents are reminded that if they have already made an appointment and additional requested materials have arrived, there is no need to make another appointment as the new materials will simply be added to your bag.
Forty-five minute appointments to use the library’s computers, copiers, printers, and scanner are available on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. Staff members are in the building 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and can be called or emailed if you have questions about the library’s services.
